The Conran Shop, in conjunction with the Association for Stimulating Know-How (ASK), our NGO partner, set up a school in India in February 1998.

The school is called Sankalp and is in Morabad, the metal working region of India, and a year of extensive research was carried out before the school opened.

“It is a great to work with our partners ASK on the Sankalp School in Moradabad. It now provides a place of education that is not only enjoyed by over 200 children, but also benefits the surrounding community.” Jill Webb, Conran Limited

Initially only five students enrolled but after many visits from social workers to the families in the local area to explain what the school was, the school was full to capacity within five months.

The Conran Shop continues to part fund the school, where the children receive a non formal education, learning English, Urdu, Maths and Art. They also have regular heath checks and nutritional food supplements. The school now has over 200 students, both boys and girls and has also recently acquired Government accreditation of two grades.
